Halo 3 Bungie Day 2009 Announced for July 7th

jkjk

Bungie Day – Bungie vs the rest of the world in a Halo 3-fest is coming around again and I for one will be raring to go this July 7th.

This years event has been announced on the Bungie podcast and includes a 4v4 player playlist this year. Players will be able to play against Bungie team members for the full 24 hours of the 7th and there is a chance to win recon armor along the way.

There’s gonna be tons of community maps on display (your maps!), dozens of Bungie employees rocking flames and stomping mud-holes in your soon to be thoroughly stomped and mud-holed faces, and of course, ridonkulous amounts of Recon armor on offer. We’re (as the kids are wont to say) gonna make it rain.

Looks like the Halo 3 servers are going to take a beating on 7/7 and with good reason, it’s going to be a great event!

Free online for GTA IV

Microsoft are to offer free online for GTA IV and the upcoming expansion, The Lost and Damned. This offer will run for a week from the 17th of February until the 22nd. The offer coincides with the DLC release giving players even more reason to stick GTA IV back in their 360.

If you’ve missed out on the online achievements, this is perhaps a perfect chance to try and grab them. It’s very likely they’ll be a lot of Devs on as well during this time, so get after them!

Let Your Xbox 360 Speak

Momma Bear over at GamerStyle has found a site that gives your Xbox 360 it’s very own blog.

You can give your 360 it’s own blog by signing up at 360voice, once registered with your GamerTag, it will take two days for the site to gather information from your Xbox. Just signed up myself but I’ll have to wait the couple of days to see what my xbox says.

So what is 360voice? 360voice is a “leading online community for the Xbox 360 with a twist. Using unique technology, the data from your Xbox Live gamercard is transformed from a snapshot into a rich history of your gaming, told in blog format from the perspective of your Xbox. This allows for conversations around specific daily achievements and events like gamer score increases and your most played games. In addition to the blog content, users can interact by leaving comments, compete in gamer score challenges, and gather badges for various site and cross-game accomplishments.”

Momma Bear’s Xbox has already blogged, and had an interesting post from when it was in repair for RROD.

Bolt demo lights up the Live Marketplace

Ready for download off the Xbox Live Marketplace is a new 818MB Disney’s Bolt game demo. Feel the excitement?

For the uninformed, Bolt is yet another video game based on a movie by the same name that features a dog named Bolt (voiced by one John Travolta) who truly believes he’s a super hero dog. But no matter how good the movie may sound, the game will probably be trash thanks to long held tradition of movie based games turning out to be utter crud. That said, we love the movie’s hamster character named Rhino. Just watch the embedded video and you’ll see why.

Kingdom Under Fire II trailer has the goods

We know you’re asking the same question: weren’t there two Kingdom Under Fire games on the original Xbox, and wasn’t there another spin-off on the Xbox 360 already? The answer to both of those questions is yes but, as Unreal Tournament and Resident Evil and Silent Hill have shown us, the traditional numbering conventions just don’t apply to video games anymore. It’s best just to let the confusion go. One thing that’s certain though, Kingdom Under Fire II looks fantastic. We have no idea how it actually plays, but a new in-game debut trailer proves that KUFII is packing some serious graphical muscle. Thousands of soldiers on screen, trolls, winged beasts, and even one positively giant creature at the end really deliver the feeling of a truly epic battle. Will it be any fun to play? We don’t know, but given the success of the series on Xbox (let’s not count Circle of Doom, mkay?), we cautiously optimistic. Check out the trailer after the break.

Rumor: Resident Evil 5 demo news incoming

Eurogamer is reporting that Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi has hinted that a RE5 demo announcement will be coming soon. Joy!

“We’ll be making an announcement about that relatively soon,” said Takeuchi when asked about the possibility of a RE5 demo being released. And we don’t think we have to tell you that we’d be all for a RE5 demo prior to launch. You know, because pre release demos make us happy. Very, very happy.

NXE trailer shows off Primetime

Microsoft has released a trailer for the New Xbox Experience, showing off the new interface and some of its features (all set to a zippy soundtrack, of course). For anyone that’s been following the NXE though, it’s mostly old hat. That is except for the brief glimpse of Primetime, the nifty live gameshow concept that was originally supposed to launch with the NXE but was then unfortunately delayed until early 2009. Other than that, the video pretty much screams, “Hey look! We have Avatars! We’re approachable too!” We’ll just have to wait and see if the message lands with the casual audience Microsoft hopes to woo.

The NXE, incidentally, lands next Wednesday.

Halo 3 Vidmaster achievements unlock Recon

According to the latest issue of Game Informer which is full of Halo 3: Recon info and deets, those who unlock all of the Halo 3 Vidmaster achievements will be awarded the (build suspense) Recon armor permutation. No joke! You can haz Recon!

All along, Bungie has hinted that those who earn the Halo 3 Vidmaster achievements will receive something of value and all along people have jokingly speculated that it would be Recon armor. Well, that’s exactly what it is, Recon armor. But don’t get too excited just yet, because all the Vidmaster achievements cannot be earned because there is a Vidmaster achievement tied to the Mythic Map Pack. So, possibly this February, you can haz Recon.

[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]
